Deli Owner Puts Up ‘Offensive’ Sign In Store Window, Gets Forced Out Of Business.

Jim Boggess, a deli owner in Flemington, put up a sign that read, “CELEBRATE YOUR WHITE HERITAGE IN MARCH, WHITE HISTORY MONTH.”

Customer Bhakti Curtis, who is of mixed-race heritage, was upset and said the sign was “mocking Black History Month” and resembled “KKK symbolism.”

Though police said the sign wasn’t racist, Boggess faced backlash.

“I was questioned for nearly four days,” he said, before removing the sign.

Despite reconciling with Curtis, business declined, and “a month after the sign was displayed,” Boggess had to close the deli.
